STORYTELLING FOR GRADES PREK-6
Want to turn your children into better listeners, enrich their thinking skills, and encourage their response to literature? Tell them a story! In this energetic workshop, Judy Freeman will pack your day with easy-to-learn stories and songs, scores of basic storytelling techniques, and practical "tricks of the trade" you can use right away to make folklore and language come alive for your students.
The program features a wide range of storytelling styles and techniques including:
•   Stories to hear today and tell tomorrow
•   Object stories
•   Draw-and-tell tales
•   Stories with music and chantable refrains
•   How to adapt a story and make it tellable
•   Ways to use stories for choral reading, creative drama, and Readers Theater
•   Ideas for incorporating storytelling across the curriculum
Included in your handout will be a comprehensive, annotated bibliography of exemplary folktales and other tellable children's books.
